Trial Of Teenagers Accused Of Sexually Abusing 2 Year Old Twins Commence In PortHarcourt

The trial of the two teenagers aged 15 and 17 years as cited by our reporter in the charge sheet, PMC /771C/2022 accused of sexually assaulting twin children (boy and girl) aged 2 years continued at Chief Magistrate Court 13 presided over by Chief Magistrate Menenen Poromon on Thursday 19,2022 after their arraignment on 12 May,2022.State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) had arraigned the 15 year old male  teenager on Thursday 12,May 2021 on charges bordering on unlawful and indecent assault of a two year old boy by having carnal knowledge of him through the anus and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 353 of the criminal code cap.77 laws of the federation of Nigeria 1999 while the 17 year old male teenager was arraigned on charges bordering on unlawful and sexual abuse of the two year old girl by inserting his finger into her vagina and defiled her and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 32 (1)(2) child right act cap.50 laws of federation of Nigeria 2003.
The continuation of the trial on Thursday,19,May,2022  was held in doors with only the teenagers,the twin children,their mother and lawyers for the accused and complainant in the closed door sitting  owing to the fact that is a juvenile court.Our correspondent who was in court reports that the case has been adjourned to a later date.
