UNIBEN MAIN GATE AND IMPENDING DANGERS:
This is the pedestrian bridge constructed at UNIBEN main gate. The purpose is not been utilized as students still run across the ever busy express road.
The death of a student about three years ago necessitated the construction of this new one after the sorry state of the old one constructed by Lucky Igbinedion as Oredo Local Government Council in the 90s which was never put to use as well. The purpose for this new bridge is to forestall further accidents or death of students and other pedestrians within the zone.
My suggestion is that the divider at the middle of the road in the area covering the main gate should be blocked and made high to help compel pedestrians to use the bridge. As I write, all the speed breakers are being removed gradually which has made vehicles to ply the zone on high speed.
It is not when another accident occurs that we start proffering solutions and using same to score political points.
