The Deputy Governorship Candidate of Young Progressive Party, YPP in Rivers state, Eze Odua Gift and the candidates for House of Assembly alongside LGA Coordinators, party stakeholders and members of the YPP dissociate themselves from the purported 82 parties conceding defeat to Governor Wike.
In a statement released today 27th March, 2019 by the Rivers State Deputy Governorship candidate of YPP, who was also the Rivers state Coordinator, Kingsley Moghalu Support Organization stated that Governor Wike knows he’s sinking, as it is obvious that he’d lose the election. We are asking INEC to be impartial and not to connive with Wike and the PDP. He also stated that he remains committed to back the AAC Governorship candidate that was adopted by the Rivers APC.
*We are contributing our support to ensure that the common interest of Rivers people which is to take Wike and PDP out of Rivers state government house is achieved. Gov. Wike has taking Rivers state very backward since he took over power in 2015. Rivers State has been very apprehensive, very high level of insecurity, kidnappings, cultism and killings of Rivers men and women. No projects to show for 4 years is the reason why the people don’t want him back. Outside the poor quality roads he focused on, there are no other thing he has done in other sectors. No employments, poor health care, poor education, insecurity etc.
Gift Odua further said that, “Former Governor Chibuike Amaechi was able to contribute meaningfully in developing Rivers state with mega projects established in all sectors; in the education sector where he built lots of world class primary and model secondary schools round the state, and the employment of 13,000+ classroom teachers. He established a free qualitative education for school children with free textbooks, note books and free uniforms, and scholarships to study reputable courses in universities abroad. In the health sector, he was able to build and equip scores of primary health centres evenly distributed round the state, also built the Kesley Harrison Memorial Specialist Hospital, the Maxillofacial and Dental Hospital, and so on. During Amaechi’s tenure hundreds of doctors were employed to manned these health facilities. There was absolutely free healthcare in most of the health centres and hospitals, most especially for mothers and children, and also the elderlies.”
He said, “Rivers economy received a tremendous boost in Amaechi’s administration as due process and transparency was involved in government contracts because he established the Bureau for Public Procurement BPP. The state was very secure and investors were confident to invest in the state, that contributed in making the internal generated revenue (IGR) of the state to increase and was close to Lagos IGR. But today, Lagos IGR is four times higher than that of Rivers. Former Governor Amaechi also established the Songhai Farms, Buguma fish farm, the Banana farm and revived the Rison Palm plantation.”
The YPP Deputy Governorship candidate also said that numerous quality roads were constructed in nearly all the LGAs during Amaechi’s administration, and I dare anyone to mention one road done by Wike and I’ll mention two roads done by Amaechi in his first tenure, then let’s see who will first stop mentioning.” He further said that “Nearly all the projects embarked by Wike’s administration were Amaechi’s projects. I welcome anyone for a public debate who thinks differently.
“Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi is a great leader, a renowned visionary leader that has great vision for Rivers State, he always means well for our dear state that is shown in his developmental policies and projects. He’s political actions are always in the best interest of the state and not selfish interest. Lagos state have got to the height it is today because of the continuity of a vision through the choice of leadership. In my opinion, Amaechi’s involvement in Rivers state affairs are instigated by the desire and aspiration to build a better Rivers for all to enjoy.” Eze Odua said.
Eze Odua Gift also added by asking all young people in Rivers state to support the AAC candidate, Biokpomabo Awara and also support this progressive movement driven by young people. A movement where young people play critical roles in government and make themselves available for leadership.
“Wike have totally failed Rivers people, there’s absolutely no transparency and accountability in this administration. Since 2015 Rivers budgets expenditure have not been made public. Massive looting in his administration and using Rivers money in bribing public officials in other to impose himself on Rivers people. We can’t just sit quiet and cold then allow tyranny in the government of Rivers state by letting Governor Wike to run the state like a personal affair.” He noted.
He said, “Rivers state needs an alternative. Our primary focus now is to exit Wike from the Brick house. That contributed and instigated our collision with the APC and AAC.”
“For we believe it is time for a paradigm shift. Rivers state must be prosperous and peaceful for all.” Odua Gift stated.
